About the Artist

Nicholas Bibbs is a young, aspiring artist having studied Studio Arts at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. Having studied drawing, graphic design, sculpture, painting and video media, he seeks to take his various experiences with artistic media and make sense of the personal relationships and artistic and spiritual influences in his life. Nicholas has submitted his work at the 2008 Luther College Fine Arts Festival, 2007 African American Student Arts Gallery of Luther College, and in the 2008 CFA Student Arts Exhibition.

Nicholas’ influences come from the scenes urban sprawl of Chicago, local cultural artist in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, the Oak Park Art League of local artists, and whatever else inspired him to create. His philosophy is to remain open to different, unconventional avenues of inspiration, whether it’s from looking at television commercials, viewing the urban expanse and decay of nearby Chicago, or trying to translate the mood of music into visual art. His style and inspiration is constantly developing and changing to match his mood. Nicholas seeks to understand his place in the artistic world and society at large through his artwork, finding personal development in the process.
